Over 20 cyclists took part in St Catherine’s first City to Solent Bike Ride on Sunday (26th September), raising over £6,000 to support children and young people with speech, language and communication disabilities.
The challenging route took cyclists on an 85 mile journey from Clapham Common, London to Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth. With near perfect weather conditions the cyclists achieved quick times with the first group arriving in seven hours.
Susan Graves, Development Officer said “We would like to thank all those who took part and Wightlink for their sponsorship of the event. Sponsorship money is still rolling in from participants and we hope to raise in excess of £10,000, which will help us to purchase new specialist equipment and improve our current services. The bike ride has been such a success that we are already planning next year’s challenge.”
