St Joseph’s Roof Gardens Rejected by Ventnor Town Council (Again)

St Joseph's Roof Gardens Application Rejected by Ventnor Town CouncilThe Ventnor Town Council (VTC) sent a clear message to property developer Michael Jennings on Monday night when they unanimously rejected his latest retrospective application to make use of an unauthorised roof garden at St Joesph’s, Madeira Road, Ventnor. The developer has previously been officially told many times that he cannot use the roof garden, including by the planning inspectorate.

Regarding the St Joseph’s development, Cllr Taylor started the proceedings by stating “This man is vexatious and wasting officer’s time.”

Cllr Lucas told the other members that he had visited the site earlier that day, stood on the roof terrace and found the proposal “totally unacceptable”.

Cllr Mew jumped in to support Cllrs Taylor and Lucas’ comments adding that the VTC had seen this application too many times and it should be refused.”

The VTC rejected the application on the grounds of it being un-neighbourly; out of keeping with the street scene and adversely affects privacy of adjoining properties.

If you wish to add your comment to the application – which closes this afternoon – you can do so by visiting the IWC Planning Web site.
