Two Isle of Wight-based charities, the Isle of Wight Foodbank and Mountbatten Isle of Wight have this week received just under £2,000 in donations, courtesy of staff from Yokogawa Marex, a software company based in Cowes.
Staff decided that instead of receiving the usual Christmas hamper, they would rather see their Christmas gift donated to local good causes, to help those most in need on the Island.
The Isle of Wight Foodbank have received a donation of £500 and Mountbatten Isle of Wight have received £1,400.
Matthews: We hope that this donation really helps both causes
Wayne Matthews, Divisional Director said,
“This has been another tough year for many people, and I am proud of the team for taking this decision to help two fantastic community organisations.
“Both Charities work incredibly hard, and we hope that this donation really helps both causes at such a difficult time of year for many families on the Island.”
This is the second time staff have forgone the Christmas gifts, last year Yokogawa Marex donated over £4,000 to the Isle of Wight Christmas Toy Appeal and the Isle of Wight Foodbank.
