This exhibition due to open next week, shows some of the pop groups which performed in the venue hall at Renowned Holiday Camp in Ryde, Isle of Wight (also known as Harcourt Sands).
This body of work includes paintings of international tribute groups such as Elvis, The Beatles and Abba produced with different mediums including acrylic, oils and watercolours.
Island-based artist Stephen Parish studied Commercial Art for two years at Weston-Super-Mare Art School before going on to work for Purnell and Sons Printing Firm in the Mendips Somerset.
Stephen has exhibited widely in Zurich and in England; his technique influenced by 19th century Swiss artists, in particular Ferdinand Hodler’s expressionistic style; utilising block colouring and geometric figures.
His paintings attempt to record a once prevalent pop scene within holiday camps on the Island capturing an almost forgotten venue where nostalgic memories linger.
