If you love literature, beautiful gardens and meeting new and interesting people, then this event taking place later today is for you.
A literary gala, featuring talks by Victoria Mather (will she be picking any social stereotypes of the Island for her talk we wonder?) and Lucie Whitehouse, (a budding new author with two books under her belt, one of which is set on the Island), as well as lots of other well known local writers who will be signing books and happy to chat.
Workshops and demos
If you fancy writing yourself, the “Starting Writing” and “Creative Writing” workshops should be a helpful start.
Or perhaps, you’re more interested in the physical creation of books, if so, then the book binding demonstration should be pretty informative.
For a bit of fun there’ll be a literary quiz and a literary crossword, both with prizes.
Where and when and how?
All of this takes place in the beautiful former home and gardens of Admiral Lord Calthorpe on Ryde.
Tickets are just £10, an absolute bargain considering the content of the afternoon and all proceeds go to SSAFA – Forces Help (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).
Full venue details and contact number for queries can be found on Events on the Wight
It doesn’t start until 1pm so you still have plenty of time to get organised.
