Stitching a greener future: Learn to mend and recycle textiles at Stitch Department

With the cost-of-living crisis continuing and a bigger focus on reduce, reuse and recycle, the motto ‘make do and mend’ is as relevant now as it was during the Second World Ward.

Stitch Department in Ryde have a couple of courses coming up which are completely free to Islanders.

Mending Sewcial 
The first takes place Wednesday 28th June between 10am-12pm.

The team at Stitch Department are passionate about reducing landfill and waste from the fashion and textile industry, and increasing the longevity of the clothing we already own.

Take along your mending, repairs, hand sewing projects, knitting, whatever you like. Basic equipment provided as well as tea, coffee and biscuits.

After School Sewing and Craft Club
The second session takes place on Wednesday 28th June from 3:30pm for an hour.

This free after school sewing and craft club welcomes all ages and abilities.

Each child attending will receive a free sewing kit so they can continue sewing at home.
