Support and advice on offer at first ever Joining Forces Event for military personnel

Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Veterans Outreach Support and Isle of Wight Council are coming together to host the first ever Joining Forces Event in support of the Island’s armed forces community.

Open to all
The event is open to all, including serving members or former armed forces personnel, or their immediate family. The event is being held at the Riverside Centre, Newport on Wednesday 18th September from midday to 4pm, and will have representatives from each of the services listed above to offer advice and support.

Volunteering and career advice
On the day there will be opportunities available to find out more about volunteering, and career advice  for anyone nearing the end of their armed forces service life.

This will run alongside the normal monthly Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) drop-in session where all the usual advice and support will still be available.

Supporting the armed forces community
The event builds on the significant amount of work that has been carried out to date by the blue light services, council and VOS to support the armed forces community and this event is aimed at raising awareness of the help and opportunities that are available, but also asking the armed forces community what further support they would like to see.

Get involved
All services are keen to hear from the armed forces community on how they can improve the current support on offer and strengthen their services going forward, and would welcome suggestions on the day.
