Last night at the Annual Meeting of the Ventnor Town Council, the mayor for the coming year was announced.
Deputy Mayor, Maureen Cawley, proposed that current mayor, Susan Scoccia be voted in again to enable her to complete her work with helping Ventnor achieve Quality Council status and the Town Plan.
Val Taylor seconded the proposal and went on to thank Cllr Scoccia for her help with the youth cafe project. There were no other nominations, and with gleaming smiles Cllr Scoccia accepted the role for another year.
Having polished her mayoral chain for the occasion, Mayor Scoccia went onto to thank the councillors for putting their trust in her for another year and hoped that her three aims would be complete by the end of the year, those being achieving Quality Council status for Ventnor, Blue Flag for the beach and the Town Plan.
She finished by stating that she was keen to be more involved in civic duties in Ventnor and thanked Mike Cox (finance officer), John Farrant (town clerk) and the other councillors for their continued support.
Maureen Cawley was nominated by Val Taylor for the position of Deputy Mayor again.
