Thanks to On The Wight reader and friend, Claire Speight, for reminding us that today is World Mental Health Day.
A shocking 350 million people of all ages across the World are affected by Depression. In this country we have good access to treatment for the disease, but many around the Globe are not so fortunate.
We loved Claire’s advice given to her friends on Facebook today, so wanted to share it with readers.
She said, “Everyone’s Mental Health is really important to take care of, as well as family and friends. So today, give yourself time to relax, go for a walk, have something to eat you really enjoy, have a 5-10 minute meditation, read a book, listen to music, almost anything you enjoy that helps you relax. If you look after your mental health, the rest of your body will be able to function a lot easier.”
We reckon that’s good advice for everyone to take notice of.
Thanks also to Lucy Boynton for sharing these amazing brain images posted on the Neuroscience Research Techniques Facebook group. Greg Dunn is responsible for the sumi-e style paintings which are apparently all based on the brain’s anatomy.
We thought they were very apt to accompany this article about mental health.
