This coming Sunday (21st September) sailors around the world will be taking part in a major sporting event called Bart’s Bash.
A whopping 14,436 sailors have signed up to take part in the race. That includes 751 clubs across 65 countries.
The race is being held in memory of Andrew Simpson, Gold and Silver Olympic medallist and America’s Cup sailor, who was tragically killed in a training accident.
As well as raising money for The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (a fantastic charity worth finding out more about), the sailors will be attempting the Guinness World Record for ‘The Largest Sailing Race in the World’.
For more details of the races taking place across 65 countries, including here in the Solent, see the official Bart’s Bash Website.
