If you’re not heading off the Wight this weekend for Camp Bestival, but are hankering for a festival atmosphere, why not head down South to Niton where you’ll find the FONStival.
FONS-ti-what? You might be asking. Well FONS stands for ‘Friends Of Niton School’ and in a continuation of their fund raising efforts, this weekend Niton Primary School will be hosting their very own music festival.
As well as some of our most talented musicians performing, there’ll also be tons of stuff to keep the nippers happy.
They can take part in a carnival workshop making headdresses and masks, test out their monkey bar skills on the adventure trial, bounce for free on the blow up castle and much more.
For the big kids there’s a bar, BBW and those lovely people from Charnwood will be bringing down one of their log burning stoves for you all to chill out by.
The lineup is made up of all Island musicians, many of whom you will’ve seen play live before.
Having played Making Waves back in May, there’ll be another chance to catch Drew this Saturday, but if you miss him he’ll be playing at Bestival in September.
We love The Wellbeing who have just released a new single and have been very busy gigging on the mainland over the past few months. Here’s lead singer Tali Trow playing in Brighton.
Another VentnorBlog favourite, Lucid (pictured above) will be gracing the stage this at the FONStival. Imagine a young Fleetwood Mac, fantastic vocals and very talented musicians who will lift your spirits. They might even have copies of their Debut Album ‘Jigsaw Dreams’ available for sale on the day.
The Sessions and Arcade Eden, fresh from their performance on the Platform One bandstand at IW Festival join the lineup.
Jimmy’s Big Fish had a single out a few years ago but never hit the big time will be finishing off the evening accompanied by plenty of enthusiastic backing singing and dancing.
No Atlas will be reforming especially for the FONStival – a previously big hit who have been sorely missed by many. Grab the chance whilst you can to see them perform together again.
Not Really are a group of 14 year olds who will be taking the opportunity to make an impression!
Contraband, otherwise known as Alan and Rob are regulars on the Island pub circuit and favourites at the Buddle Inn.
Finally, (although they’ll be playing first, Alan Ramsdale Capper’s Children’s Guitar Group –
with his fantastic guitar classes from school opening the stage. All keen to have their moment of fame at the FONStival!
Action kicks off at 1.45pm and last band takes to the stage at 9.30pm.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for children.
Location: Niton School, School Lane, Niton
