The Girling family’s Star Wars Christmas display is a festive treat for the whole family

It’s that time of the year when community-minded Islanders head into their garden sheds to compose magical Christmas displays to raise money for charity or simply put smiles on children’s faces.

Leon Girling and his family in Sandown has been busy once again and has brought festive cheer and a little 70s-80s nostalgia to the town.

Yes folks, their superb LEGO Star Wars themed Christmas light display has returned.

Leon explains to News OnTheWight,

“The display consists of eight large lightsabres, a kid’s 3m x 4m sit-in X-wing, three tie fighters, ten Star Wars Characters, Santa, an elf, planets, a large Lego style Christmas Tree and a space station.”

Leon went on to say,

“We wish to thank three local businesses that donated materials, which we have upcycled to make our display; Boojum Snark, Stylish Windows and Plastics and Dave Death Motorcycles.”
