Ventnor Film Society present the third film of 2012 tonight (Wednesday) with Mona Achache’s The Hedgehog screening at 7.30pm.
Achache’s debut as a writer-director looks at a hypocritical adult world through the eyes of the lonely, precocious 11-year-old Paloma who is making a documentary about her haut-bourgeoise family whom she despises and her neighbours, as she plans her own suicide on her 12th birthday.
The contrasting world of the apartment block’s concierge and the understanding of a new Japanese inhabitant change Paloma’s understanding of life and make this a brisk, touching comedy.
Taking place at St Francis Primary Upper School, see Events On The Wight for full details.
