Next Wednesday (21st) sees the Licensing Sub-Committee meet to discuss and consider the review of a premises license for The Qube nightclub in Ryde.
The review was called by a member of the public who, as well as many others living in the close proximity of The Qube (formerly The Balcony), oppose what they say are the breaches of noise orders and unruly actions of customers between midnight and 4.30am whenever events are hosted at the venue.
Increased noise, vandalism, defecation and fights
Increased noise from the venue; regular fights – one resulting in serious head injuries; customers defecating on the street in full view of others; near riots; regular urination in residents’ gardens; one resident’s door regularly being kicked; cars being vandalised and the general noise of customers leaving the premises at closing time are all cited in support of a premises license review.
The sub-committee will consider the representations from local residents, the Police and Environmental Health before making their decision to approve one of the following options
- Option 1 – To retain the licence in its current form
- Option 2 – To modify the conditions of the licence
- Option 3 – To exclude a licensable activity from the scope of the licence
- Option 4 – To remove the designated premises supervisor
- Option 5 – To suspend the licence for a period not exceeding three months
- Option 6 – To revoke the licence
