Third arrest made in connection with Ocean Hotel arson in Sandown

Officers investigating a recent series of arsons at the Ocean Hotel in Sandown have arrested a third man as part of their enquiries.

Yesterday (Wednesday 4th September) a 20-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of arson. He has been conditionally bailed until 4th December while enquiries continue.

Two previous arrests
We have previously arrested another 20-year-old man, from Sandown and an 18-year-old man, both on suspicion of arson. They have both been released on conditional bail until 3rd December and 8th November respectively.

Our investigation into these arson incidents continues, and the South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team are following up every line of enquiry. Police also continue to patrol the area, and are working with local partners to resolve issues regarding the site, its security and the associated anti-social behaviour and criminality.
