Legoland Windsor was taken over by Girlguiding last weekend. This was no ordinary takeover, but just for one day when thousands of girls and their leaders descended on the attraction.
All the rides and Legoland models were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone attending, but there were some very special events for girls from the Isle of Wight
Promise ceremonies
Laura Cottey the Chief Commissioner for Girlguiding Southwest England was in attendance and only too pleased to make presentations to a number of Island girls and young women and to join in with Promise ceremonies.
Six Island units attended the event with over 100 girls and leaders having to make an early start from the Island to enable them to have a full day at Legoland.
With perfect warm and sunny weather, it was just the right time to take those rides and enjoy all the fun.
Special memories
Linda Stone, Island Commissioner, led some Promise ceremonies as well as Laura Cottey.
For girls making their Guide Promise at a special event there will always be a special memory.
Young leader award
Receiving her Young Leader Award from Laura Cottey was Erica Hiscock from Newport.
Erica is a Young Leader with 1st Carisbrooke Guides.
