This year’s Yarmouth lifeboat tours and recent Fish & Chip Supper raised substantial funds for the RNLI. As the RNLI is a charity almost entirely dependent on public donations, the work of volunteer fundraisers and continued support of the public is vital.
Guided tours
The guided tours of Yarmouth’s All Weather lifeboat, which are run by volunteers from mid-July until the end of September, are a key source of charitable income.
These popular tours give members of the public the opportunity to have a privileged look around Yarmouth’s impressive Severn Class lifeboat, the Eric and Susan Hiscock (Wanderer).
The tours are free, but any donations from visitors are gratefully received and this year totalled a fantastic £1,485.
RNLI Fish & Chip Supper
Another important source of revenue are the many fundraising events organised by the West Wight Fundraisers; the most recent of which was an RNLI Fish & Chip Supper hosted by the Royal Solent Yacht Club on Friday evening.
This event was well supported by 105 local residents and an amazing £891 was raised through the RSYC donating £5 of each £10 supper ticket, along with the proceeds of a fundraising raffle.
The RNLI Yarmouth lifeboat station thanks the general public for their continued support for this worthy cause.
