Nettlestone witnessed a touching event today (Tuesday) at the new Vic’s Stores to bid farewell and express gratitude to Charles and Linda Brading.
The Bradings, a family that has helmed the store for over three generations spanning 80 years, have become a cornerstone of the local community.
Their support, particularly notable during the challenging times of the Covid Lockdowns, has left an indelible mark on the village.
Charles and Linda went above and beyond to ensure the older residents, who feared leaving their homes, received their necessities through dedicated deliveries.
Community’s heartfelt thanks
This morning, the community came together to extend a heartfelt thank you to the couple.
In recognition of their tireless dedication, including the early mornings and late nights spent serving the village, the gathering presented Charles and Linda with a gift of £650.
Freedom of the Parish
Barry Elliott, the Chairman of the Parish Council, bestowed upon them the Freedom of the Parish.
Former Lord Lieutenant, Major General Sir Martin White, also took the moment to reflect on the Bradings’ years of service. He highlighted the invaluable contributions they have made to the welfare and spirit of Nettlestone.
The legacy of service
The event underscored not only the community’s appreciation for the Bradings, but also the significance of their role during one of the most challenging periods in recent memory.
As Charles and Linda Brading step away from the store that has been part of their family for decades, their legacy of service and community support will undoubtedly continue to inspire Nettlestone for many years to come.
