Whilst we’re on the subject of the Conservative Home Website, a blog by our very own council leader, David Pugh, popped up over the weekend.
Entitled, “Tidal power not wind power”, Cllr Pugh’s blog talks about the council’s involvement in plans for the Solent Ocean Energy Centre.
£1m council investment
As readers will remember, the Isle of Wight council have already pledged £1m of council investment and are seeking a further £1m match funding from the Regional Growth Fund.
Cllr Pugh says that the Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, Greg Barker (who we understand happens to be a relative of Cllr Pugh’s wife), was impressed with the Isle of Wight’s ambitious plans. The Isle of Wight council aim to be energy self-sufficient within a decade.
