1980s TV legend, Timmy Mallett, travelled today on Wightlink’s FastCat (09:15).
He’s circumnavigating Britain on a solo cycling and painting tour of the country, doing 4,000 miles in 100 days.
Pushing the idea of Staycations
Timmy has been inspired by artists Turner and Constable who couldn’t travel to Europe 200 years ago because of the dictator Napoleon.
He’s hoping to inspire British residents to discover the beauty of their own country by taking Staycations this year and spreading positivity about our brilliant coastline.
Cross-Island cycle and paint
After arriving at Ryde Pier Head, Timmy is cycling across the Island to Yarmouth, painting scenes along the way.
He’ll then cross back to the mainland to continue his journey around Britain.
