Together For Mission Zero invites residents to help shape Isle of Wight’s carbon-neutral strategy

Together For Mission Zero Isle of Wight is an initiative that brings together the local community to support the Isle of Wight council’s 2040 Mission Zero strategy. This strategy aims to drive the Island towards a carbon-neutral future by 2040.

The platform serves as a space where people can connect, share ideas and engage in discussions to help shape the future of the Isle of Wight. The group has been busy organising events and collaborating with various sectors of society to push the mission forward.

Three years of collaborative effort
For the past three years, Together For Mission Zero has worked alongside the Isle of Wight council, local businesses and civic organisations with the goal of raising awareness about the 2040 Mission Zero strategy and to get people actively involved in the cause.

So far, they have run nine events across the Island. They have established expert-led hubs focused on different sectors of the Mission Zero strategy, such as education, travel and business, which aim to tackle specific areas where changes are needed to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.

Upcoming event in Sandown
The next Together For Mission Zero (TFMZ) meeting will be held on Wednesday 6th November from 7pm to 9.30pm at Brown’s Golf Course in Sandown.

The event will feature an ‘Open Space’ format, allowing attendees to take an active role in shaping discussions. They’ll be encouraged to share their own ideas for driving change and collaborate on existing projects that align with the Mission Zero vision.

This gathering promises to be both engaging and forward-thinking, focusing on how to make the Isle of Wight a net-zero, nature-positive and thriving community.
