Totland seawall path to be closed for ‘many months’

Readers will remember the video footage of the impact a landslide at Totland had over the Christmas holidays.

The Isle of Wight council have today advised that the path along the Totland seawall “will be closed for many months due to the damage caused by land slippage over the New Year period.

“Closure signs and fencing will remain in place in the interests of public safety. This is because the wall, a section of which was pushed out several metres, remains unstable and could break down further in periods of wet weather or heavy seas.”
