South Western Railways (SWR) has advised that the line between Shanklin and Ryde has been suspended after a lorry hit the railway bridge at Morton Common, Sandown.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area, but the road is now clear.
SWR staff are inspecting the bridge. Their social media team had tweeted,
De ja vu?
Back in 2014 we were in a similar situation when a lorry hit the bridge following road resurfacing, resulting in a road closure and suspension of the train line.
