If you love live music there is only one place on the Wight to be tonight and that’s in Ventnor at the Winter Gardens. Tonight sees the launch party for Volume 2 of the Wight Trash Transitions CD take over the gardens and boy, what a night is in store for you.
Keeping in the spirit of the 52 track triple CD, the range of live performances tonight is just as diverse with Electro Magnetic Workshop, Thee Waxworks, The Shutes, Cooly Haste and Julio Peculio all taking to the stage.
On the decks fingering the vinyl will be Kaf Tan (who will also be playing live alongside Keiran from Tydus Falls), Lektroluxe and George Cross.
Arty Marlarky will be dressing the Winter Gardens with UV netting, neon dream catchers and generally transforming it – there’ll be no sign of chinzy curtains and plastic flowers tonight – but we can’t guarantee whether the patriotic plastering of the bar in union flags will be any different.
There’ll be a super neon hula girl adding to the general chaos – but sadly the stunt uni-cyclist has broken his ankle (and his unicycle) so won’t be performing.
Talking of accidents, we hear that some of the band members of Thee Waxworks were involved in a serious car crash last night, but are still intending to play live tonight – that’s what we call dedication – make sure you get some rest today lads.
With the credit crunching price of only £2.50 to get in and just £10 for the triple CD this is an event not to be missed.
Action kicks off at 8pm. We’re anticipating a sell out on the door, so get there early.
Don’t forget all proceeds go to the works at the Ventnor Skate Park – well done to everyone involved in pulling this together, especially John Cattle who has been racing around the Island over the last few weeks making it all happen.
Without a doubt, this CD is the most eclectic and comprehensive compilation of music from the Isle of Wight.
