An amazing £26,000+ was raised last year through the Yellow Box collections. Ben from the Hospice writes with this appeal for more volunteers. In his own words. Ed
The Earl Mountbatten Hospice is urgently appealing for new volunteers to join our active team of Yellow Box collectors across the Island.
Our Yellows, as we like to call them, are kindly displayed in shops and businesses across the island and are regularly filled with kind donations from the public.
These generous donations came to a grand total of £26,714.01 for the past 12 months to the 1st September. This is an amazing amount of money to raise and is greatly appreciated by all of us at the hospice.
We thank every shop and business that has one of our Yellow Collecting Tins, and we thank all of our loyal supporters who help fill them up!
What’s Yellow Box collecting?
Yellow Box collecting is a fun, active and social way to support the hospice.
Each Yellow Box collector has a round that covers a certain area, and collects boxes at a time convenient to them. This takes only a couple of hours a week.
Collecting Yellow Boxes is a great way to explore and get to know your local community, as well as helping collect vital funds for Patient Care at the hospice. This is a great introduction to volunteering at the hospice, as well as a brilliant opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
Appeal for new volunteers
We have a dedicated team of volunteers that routinely collect our Yellows across the Island, but we are still looking for more volunteers in the following areas: East Cowes / Whippingham / Newport / Wootton Bridge / Ryde / Shanklin / Whitwell. Mileage and other travel expenses are reimbursed to all volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering and would like an informal chat about Yellow Box collecting please contact the hospice’s Voluntary Services Department on (01983) 528956.
