Southern Vectis is warning vandals not to cause damage when travelling on its buses across the Island.
The stance comes after seats were slashed on one of the operator’s newest vehicles, and bosses are now looking to identify and seek prosecution against the culprits.
Southern Vectis general manager, Matt Kitchin, said,
“We want all our customers to enjoy travelling in comfort on our buses, but a small minority of people do not share our values.
“Our entire fleet is equipped with CCTV, and we are currently working to identify those who caused £200 worth of damage by slashing brand new seats. The information will be shared with the police who we will be asking to take appropriate action.
“Along with most people living here on this beautiful Island, our team respects our environment and the close-knit feel of community we all enjoy.
“We are lucky that vandalism is very rare here – but we want people to understand, we will not tolerate it and will always look to prosecute and recover costs from the offenders.”
