Due to schedule changes at IW Radio this week Tom had to cover the breakfast show yesterday, so our regular slot on IW Radio was today instead of Thursday.
If you missed it you can listen again by using the player at the bottom of the article. As usual we gave our tips of what’s hot over the weekend on the Wight starting with a choice of two open mic nights. The first was the Open Mic Comedy at Quays Arts which features lots of very funny Island folk, the other was the Open Mic at Dimbola Lodge in Freshwater.
If you fancy some live music tonight, the talented young things of Platform One will be playing at Ryde Theatre – great lineup well worth checking out.
During the day tomorrow there are loads of Christmassy events taking place, including Open Studios for local artists Melanie and Martin Swan.
Heading into the evening, of course it’s that time of year again when Ryde welcomes the Lantern Parade, starts at 5pm from Dover Park. Also taking place tomorrow is the St Catherine’s Santa Hop (taking place at 10.30am not 6pm as I said in the broadcast), more details on that over on On The Wight.
Sunday is folk day on the Island with the afternoon gig at the Bargeman’s Rest and in the evening Smoke and Mirrors play the Ryde Castle Hotel in aid of the Missing Abroad Charity.
In the coming week, we gave Below Stairs, a comedy musical at Apollo Theatre a mention as well as Cinderella at Quays Arts. [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/2009-12-04-iwradio.mp3]
If you prefer to listen live, we’ll be back on IW Radio just after noon on Thursday next week.
