Vectis Isle Pioneers Motorcycle Club: Fourth round of championship trials

Wayne shares this latest report from the the VIPmcc’s Fourth Round of the 2015/16 Championship at Sweetwater Brook on 24th July. Ed

The Club are very thankful to Mr Trevor Strickland for the use of this great venue. Thanks are also in order to Howard Jacobs who set eight really good sections to test all of us.

The weather conditions were just about perfect for trials riding, warm but overcast and the water level in the brook was helpfully and unusually low!

Well-contested Intermediate class
There were no Expert riders which meant that the well-contested Intermediate class took centre stage. The improving Scott Milton seized the win with an excellent and confident performance.

Scott finished the trial for a loss of only fourteen marks. Andy Scott-Jackson had to dig deep to stay ahead of Geoff Taylor to finish in second spot. Geoff was just two more marks adrift in third – very well done to all three riders.

Close battle in the Novice class
The Novice class proved to be an extremely close battle between Paul Kent and Brian Brockwell. Paul emerged the winner by just a single mark!

Section seven turned out to be the deciding factor. Club Chairman, Wayne Brodie was forced to settle for third place. The improving Phil Chase, finished very well – not too far behind to take fourth spot – keep up the good work Phil.

Course setter, Howard Jacobs, set the lowest total of the day dropping a miserly seven marks to get the win in the Twin shocks, Howard rode unopposed but absolutely deserved his ten Championship points.

Young Kerry Jacobs, following his Dad’s footsteps, convincingly took the win in the Adult Beginner class from Steve Chase – who never the less did very well to take second place.

Solo youth rider
Harrison Crickmore (Youth Beginner, under eighty cc) was the sole Youth rider, Harrison did find sections one and six quite challenging – but kept going to earn himself another first place finish and remain the Championship leader in his class – very well done Harrison.
