Whilst we were lazing around down the Brewery with mulled wine and papers on Sunday last week, 30 members of Ventnor angling and social club fished the Christmas special competition with 18 returning fish. It was a beautiful day for it and here’s the results.
Shaun Graham had the best weight of the day with four Wrasse and two Bass totalling 16lb 12oz. Second place went to Alan Bravery who returned 8 Flounders (isn’t he from The Simpsons? Oh no, that’s Flanders) for 12lb 2oz and won the best specimen sweep with a Flounder of 3lb 2-3/4oz which is also a new club record. Third place went to Dave Abrook with a Flounder and Bass for 5lb 9-1/4oz and Lee Danson was fourth with 5lb 9oz.
The second sweep went to a Flounder of 2lb 0-1/2oz landed by Alan White. All 30 entrees received prizes and enjoyed a festive board after the presentation.
The club chairman Garreth Butt thanked all the members for their support over the year and reminded them that their fees are now due for next year at £7 adults and £1 juniors (amazing rates).
Anyone holding trophies from this year are also asked to return them as soon as possible to a committee member ASAP – or else!
