All praise to the Madeira Road resident who through his last minute actions, may just have managed to swing the decision for the Ventnor Conservation Area to be extended further than originally proposed.
At the town council meeting on Monday Cllr Susan Scoccia told members the area would now include Madeira Road, Trinity Road and Spring Gardens.
She said: “This enables Ventnor to achieve developments to take the town into the future while respecting its history.”
On the penultimate day of the consultation period for the Conservation Area, the concerned Madeira Road resident contacted his all neighbours to ensure that as many people as possible had written, voicing their concerns that only part of the historic road had been included in the original conservation area.
He collected all the letters and delivered them himself to the Seaclose Park offices.
Cllr Fitzgerald-Bond has today confirmed that this includes Madeira Road in it’s entirety, great news for all the residents.
