Thanks to Janet for letting readers know about the change to the Ventnor Country Market. Ed
It’s all change for Ventnor Country Market from this week – the town’s food, produce and craft market is switching to Saturday mornings, trading as usual in the Baptist Church in Pier Street.
There are also new opening hours, now from 10am in the morning until 1pm with and a wider range of food in the market’s cafe. But everything else stays the same – top quality home-baked food, home-grown produce and plants and hand-crafted goods.
Great feedback during Ventnorville
Market manager Jeane Minx said the reason for the switch came about because of the resounding success of the market held on the Ventnorville Saturday just before Christmas.
Jeane said,
“We had such good feedback, particularly from people who had never been able to make it to market when it was held on Thursdays.”
What to expect
The market, run as a co-operative, is now in its fifth year and prides itself on selling additive free food. All cooks use free range eggs and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, keeping food miles to a minimum.
Food can also be made to order including Valentine’s cakes which can be collected on Saturday, 13 February.
An extensive range of savoury and sweet foods are sold, many are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and people with food intolerances. Fresh bread is available, along with jams, marmalade, chutneys, pickles and sauces.
Seasonal vegetables, fruit and plants are always on sale. There is a wide range of crafts – knitwear and textiles, jewellery, wirework and cards.
All welcome
Entrance is free and all of us at Ventnor Country Market look forward to serving existing and new customers alike as part of your Saturday morning visit to town.
Our café serves drinks, cakes and light lunches.
