VENTNOR WIN OUTDOOR SIXES
Ventnor won the Isle of Wight Cricket Board Outdoor Sixes on Sunday, defeating Ryde Cavaliers in the final.
Charlie Freeston’s side reached the final after victories against St Helens and Northwood.
WINNING FINISH FOR THIRD TEAM
Ventnor’s third team ended their campaign on a winning note with a 40 run win over Cowes Centurions in the final Harwood’s League play off match on Saturday.
Ventnor made 180 and dismissed the home side for 140 in reply. The victory was not enough to deny Cowes promotion to League Division One, however.
HEAVY DEFEAT IN FRIENDLY
Chasing a massive 332 against Tri Northerners on Sunday, a much under strength Ventnor side could only manage 163-8 in reply, Joe Cotton scoring 68.
Thanks are due to Graham and Christine Benson of Blue Heaven Productions for their sponsorship of the game.
THIS WEEKEND
There is no match at Steephill this Saturday.
However, the first team will be in action in the Twenty20 Newclose Cup at the new County Ground.
On Sunday, the Club are staging a match in memory of Will Wesson, a former player, who died last year.
Ventnor will field a side who played with Will in the 1980’s and early 1990’s against a team captained by Will’s brother Ed.
The match starts at midday.
