Rain The Winner In Newclose Clash
Ventnor’s home debut in Division 1 of the Southern Electric Premier League was thwarted by the weather at Newclose on Saturday.
Under threatening skies, Charlie Freeston’s side had reached 101-4 from 26 overs (Danny Briggs 27, Neil Westhorpe 25 not out, Sean Nowak 16 not out) before incessant rain caused the abandonment of their clash with South Wilts.
The Islanders will be hoping for better weather when they travel to Premier League champions Havant on Saturday and to Fareham & Crofton in the National Club Championship the following day.

Rob Snell lent support with 31 after James Cheek with 4-35 and Arthur Halsey (2-19) had dismissed the visitors for 158.
