Ventnor Heritage Centre reopens today and launches new book

Ventnor Heritage Centre reopens today (Wednesday 14th July).

To coincide with the reopening, the Ventnor and District Local History Society have also released a new booklet ‘A brief history of Ventnor’, which will be available at £4 from the Heritage Centre.

32 pages of photos
The book has been produced by Ventnor and District Local History Society to provide visitors with a general history of Ventnor, Bonchurch and St Lawrence.

The book contains 32 pages and contains images of many places which, despite the ravages of time, war and traffic, still look almost unchanged since Victorian times.

Some images show things that are no longer there, such as Steephill Castle and Ventnor pier, and there is a specially drawn map, spread over the centre pages, to show readers the locations of these vanished treasures as well as current landmarks.

Opening times
Heritage Centre opening times are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm and admission remains at £2.
