Don’t forget that the Ventnor lantern procession takes place tomorrow evening.
It starts from the Market Street car park at 5.45 and will make it’s way along Albert Street, Pier Street, High Street and into Victoria Road.
It will then proceed along Dudley Road and back along Pier Street, Church Road, Belgrave Road and finally into the park.
There will be a rolling road closure in place, but the road will be re-opened immediately after the procession passes by, so motorists should not be held up for very long.
Lantern making workshops have been taking place over the last two weekends and have been well supported. As usual, there will be a couple of larger lanterns on the procession.
Costumes
There will also be 11 illuminated costumes on the procession this year. An NCFE, Level 2 Carnival Crafts course has been taking place at The Carnival Learning Centre in Ryde recently and the students and their final costumes, on the theme of the Winter Solstice, are coming to join in the fun.
The procession will finish at the park for “Carols in the Park” at 6.30pm. The singing will be lead by The United Singers of Ventnor and there will be mulled wine, mince pies and Father Christmas. It promises to be a delightful evening so do come along and enjoy it.
Can all participants meet at the Market Street car park by 5.30pm at the latest, to collect their lanterns and be ready to set off at 5.45pm
