Not long before the Music For Fun Festival returns to Ventnor. Ed
St. Catherine’s Church in Ventnor will be the venue for lots of fun music-making at the beginning of March.
The Ventnor Music For Fun Festival celebrates all kinds of group and individual music making by children and adults, and will run from the 2nd to the 4th March.
What to expect
From school guitar groups to adult choirs, piano duets to woodwind and brass solos, accordions to Scottish fiddle, there will be opportunities for anyone who plays an instrument or sings to perform, and to gain expert advice and constructive comments from experienced professional adjudicator, Eric Tebbett.
There is one ‘Best of Festival’ prize of £50 kindly donated by the Rotary Club and the adjudicator may, at his discretion, award ‘Best in Class’.
New for this year, there will be special junior and senior ‘adjudication only’ classes which completely removes any competitive element, and is particularly at home with the ethos of the whole festival: that the primary aim is to share the enjoyment of music.
New category
Also, for the first time, there is a traditional song section for up to three children aged 7 and under, designed to be a gentle introduction to performing in public.
All the sessions will, of course, be open to the public to attend and so even if you do not fancy coming to perform you can come and enjoy the atmosphere!
