Ventnor runner goes the extra mile to beat breast cancer

Many thanks to Leanne Phillips for letting us know about this fundraising challenge being taken by by Ventnor resident Maria Sexton. Ed

A Ventnor Woman has pulled on her running shoes to train for the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

maria-sexton29 year old Maria Sexton, who is taking part for the first time, will join thousands of other runners on the starting line for the 26.2 mile race in London on 21st April after both her Aunt and Close friend were diagnosed with breast cancer.

Maria’s aunt is now in remission after having treatment as well as a double mastectomy. On a sadder note her friend’s cancer is terminal, making Maria even more determined to cross the finish line.

“Please dig deep”
Maria said, “I know running can not give any comfort to my aunt or my friend, but I do hope it will raise lots of money to help Breast Cancer Campaign fund vital research, so that I do not have to witness any more of my friends or family going through this.

“Please dig deep and you too can BE PART OF THE CURE for breast cancer.”
