Next Monday sees the Ventnor Town Council consider the latest planning applications in the area.
In a change to how these meetings previously took place, there is now a chance for the public to make statements before the meeting commences on any application being discussed at that particular meeting.
This follows the request for public representation at these meetings from Ventnor resident, Dennis Russell which was discussed and agreed by Councillors last month.
As we’ve said before, this is a great move forward from the Ventnor Town Council and will enable the public to give further background on applications prior to decisions being made by Councillors who might not perhaps be aware of the impact of proposed applications.
One of the applications to be discussed will be application number TCP/11783/A – P/00887/08. It relates to A&B Emporium in the High Street and is for a change of use from the shoe and handbag shop to a property letting office. The key cutter, which should tie in nicely with a letting agent, will remain in place at the rear of the premises.
We have a vague memory that businesses on that side of the road are supposed to be retail only, but we may be wrong. We expect this and any others that come up before Monday will be considered by the Councillors.
