We’ve just had a call from Mike on the inside of Vestas to give us an update on events.
The big news is that Court Orders have been served on those inside, with a time and date of 10.15 am on Wednesday 29th July at Newport County Court.
The RMT have agreed to cover the legal costs and representatives will appear on behalf of the workers at the hearing where the judge will decide whether to approve an injunction against the workers.
Mike went on to tell us that a petition is being organised and it is hoped this will also be presented to the judge on Wednesday.
Support tonight for the rally was good – more than yesterday and all the lads inside get a massive boost from this.
They are all feeling pretty ecstatic about the court orders, realising that this gives them five days to raise even more support.
We also heard from Mike that a truck load of food was delivered tonight by Sainsbury van for the supporters who have been prewent outside the site for the last three days – we heard later that this was donated by someone called ‘A Smith’ rather than Sainsburys.
Simon is up at the rally at the moment, so keep checking the Twitter stream for updates.
The phone line was not great – so apologies for the crackling. [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/mike-vestas-court-order.mp3]
