As our readers will have noticed, we’ve been pretty comprehensive with our coverage of the Vestas Sit-In over the past two weeks. We believe it’s an important issue for the Island and worth putting the time and effort into covering properly.
But we’re not the only ones who feel that way.
One person who we’ve seen down on site pretty much every day is fellow Island blogger, WightEye.
He’s had some great coverage of the occupation with photos and opinion on what has been happening at the Newport factory.
Blades ready for shipping?
His latest post addresses the subject of completed blades, which look as though they’re ready to be shipped.
The blades travel off the Island by barge on the River Medina and in order for them to be loaded onto the barge they have be lifted across the tow path (which we understand is public land).
This land is at the moment being occupied by a number of tents (supporters of the occupation camping there rather than on the full to capacity roundabout outside the factory).
It will be interesting to see whether this causes problems for Vestas when they’re ready to lift the blades onto the barges.
