Vote For Return of Sandown Tiger

Anyone who has ever visited the Isle of Wight Zoo or driven past it will remember the landmark stone tiger that used to stand proudly above the entrance surveying the surrounding landscape.

Vote For Return of Sandown TigerFollowing years of attack by the elements, the tiger was finally removed in 2008 after spending October pink for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Isle of Wight Zoo tell us that the disappearance of the tiger has resulted in a steady stream of enquiries as to its whereabouts and when it will be returning.

Given that 2010 is the Chinese Year of the Tiger, they felt this might be a good time to see whether Islanders think the tiger should be returned to its proud position surveying Sandown.

You can have your chance to vote on whether the tiger should return by visiting the Zoo’s Website or in person at the Zoo.

Workshops galore
We also hear that free year of the tiger workshops are being run at the Zoo on Sundays (and Saturdays during the holidays) by local artist Hannah George. This will run throughout the summer with tiger-themed craft activities and competitions.

The final result will be announced on the 19th April.
