Walk and Talk gallery tours with artists at Quay Arts

Georgia shares this latest news from Quay Arts. Ed

Founded in 2013 by Robert Priseman in conjunction with Simon Carter, the Contemporary British Painting group was formed to seek ways to explore and promote current trends in British painting through group exhibitions, talks, publications, art prizes, as well as the donation of paintings to art museums both in the UK and around the world.

Award-winning artists
The Contemporary British Painting group represents some of the most exciting, emerging and award‐winning artists, painting in the UK today, 40 of which were set to feature in this summer exhibition to coincide with Quay Arts’ 40th Anniversary this year.

Unfortunately, due to the untimely death of Ben Cove, 39 out of the 40 artists now have their work represented in this exhibition. Whether it be exploring the painting process, memory, location or identity, all express an individual voice and concern in painting today.

“Painting today is at its most diverse, possibly more so now than at any other time in history, and the range and scope of work on show here is testament to the vibrancy and acknowledged status of British painting on the international stage. It seems wholly appropriate that Quay Arts in partnership with Contemporary British Painting should choose to mark this in their anniversary year.”   Freya Purdue, (CBP – Isle of Wight) 2016.

Response to the exhibition
Also now on in the Clayden Gallery is an exhibition by young adults who have made work in response to the CBP exhibition.
