Vaccination Centre Riverside Newport

Walk-in service for first or second Covid-19 jabs for over 18s on the Isle of Wight

Anyone aged over 18 can walk-in for their first or second Covid-19 vaccination at the Solent NHS Trust run large-scale vaccination centre at The Riverside Centre in Newport.

A full list of walk-in sessions can be found on the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group vaccination page (regularly updated).

First come, first served basis
Vaccines are offered on a first come, first served basis and there may be a short wait for people to receive their vaccine. People should bring their NHS number if they have it.

As well as first vaccinations, second vaccinations for Pfizer and AstraZeneca are available at the walk-ins if it has been at least eight weeks since the first dose. Please check the link above to see which times Pfizer clinics are running and which times AstraZeneca is being offered.

Getting the second dose is vital to getting longer lasting and maximum protection offered by the vaccines, with recent research also showing they are highly effective against the Delta/Indian strain of the virus.

Noyes: Making it easier for people
David Noyes, Chief Operating Officer at Solent NHS Trust, said,

“We are delighted to be reopening more regular walk-in appointments at The Riverside Centre, making it easier for people on the Island to be able to get their life-saving vaccination whilst they go about their daily lives.

“We also continue to offer pre-booked appointments. These are available by visiting the Website or by calling 119, free of charge.”

Alongside the Riverside Centre, GP-led sites on the island are also offering walk-in appointments – please check the CCG website for details.

While visiting any vaccination site, people are reminded to follow the ‘hands, face, space’ guidance to help control the virus.
