Many thanks to Isle of Wight Bob for dropping us a line to say that a diesel spill in Avenue Road (at junction of Fort Street), Sandown is causing problems.
We spoke to Carl at the Caulkheads pub, who told us that the spill happened about 50 metres down the road from them about an hour ago.
He said that there was a double decker bus broken down with a “large puddle of under the bus”. We understand the diesel is apparently pouring into the drains.
A tow truck has since been on the scene, but as it took away the broken-down bus, a larger spill stretched across road.
The road is being gritted, but if you need to use it, go carefully.
