Trevor Blaney and Kay Powel of The Pop Up Soup Kitchen were delighted yesterday (Wednesday) to attend Buckingham Palace where they were recognised for their outstanding contribution to the community of the Isle of Wight.
Hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine, at the Lord Chamberlain’s office, Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also in attendance.
Trevor Blaney, founder of the Pop Up Soup Kitchen jokingly said,
“We only made a bit of soup!
“But it was a great honour to have this official recognition.
“It’s going to be a very hard winter for many more people this year and we are continually looking at ways to covertly dispense charity to the increasing numbers who need us.”
