Wightlink Lymington – Yarmouth car ferry is now running to advertised timetable.

Red Funnel: Our RJ service will resume at 15:45 from SO and 16:15 from WC, this will be on an hourly service until further notice.

There’s a fallen tree on Bouldnor Road, Yarmouth and another on Burnt House Lane, Newport. Island Roads on their way to clear.

Island Line train service has resumed between Shanklin and Ryde Esplanade, with taxis taking passengers up the pier.

WEATHER
Flood alert: A flood alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Eastern Yar. Flooding is possible for tributaries, Whitwell to Bembridge

The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for wind today in the area, so Islanders should expect some disruption to cross-Solent travel.

The Amber warning is valid from 10am until 11.50pm,

A vigorous area of low pressure is expected to move northeastwards across northern parts of the UK later on Wednesday, clearing eastwards early on Thursday. This is likely to be accompanied by a swathe of southwesterly gales across many areas which may be severe in places. Winds will veer more westerly later on Wednesday.

A first peak in the winds is likely over southern and southwest England around the middle of Wednesday but with the main swathe of even stronger and potentially damaging winds crossing parts of Wales then northern England later in the day.

The public should be prepared for the the risk of disruption to transport and possibly also power supplies. In addition, large waves are likely to affect some coasts.

The Island also has a Yellow weather warning for heavy rain between today (Wednesday) and Saturday.
