This community event planned for 2nd August – which will be opened by the High Sheriff – sounds like a great afternoon out.
The event which runs from 2-5pm will feature a variety of competitions and a raffle, there’ll be cakes and teas, Prosecco, Pimms and pop on offer.
You can admire vintage vehicles, take part in children’s carnival crafts, have a go at metal detecting, get your bikes post code marked as well as check out the stalls and much more.
Jill Cowley told OnTheWight,
“Wellow is such a small village, but has a splendid, rather underused Millennium Green for which we need to raise funds to keep it, and its Butterfly Garden, in good heart.
“Knowing the Sports Centre also need our support, and that many children have nowhere to play energetic games and sports, we approached Clare Griffin to come to Wellow as a first ‘Outreach’ to organise some sports and show people how to use the ‘Trim Track’.
“By organising a Community event on August 2nd we hope to introduce people to the Green and to West Wight Sports Team; to promote healthy living; meet other people, including the Community Police Team, and have fun.”
Programmes £3 on door.
Proceeds to upkeep of the Green through the Wellow Green Trust Fund.
