A pair of wellies on the lawn

Welly wanging and tomato tossing: New summer event to hit the Isle of Wight

Forget this year’s Olympic Games, all eyes will be on the Island this summer as Wessex Cancer Support brings its brand-new welly wanging and tomato tossing championships to the Isle of Wight County Showground between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 31st August.

The championships will see participants ‘wang’ their welly or ‘toss’ their tomato as far as possible to try and win the trophy.

Several categories
With categories for under 14 girls, under 14 boys, men, women and over 70s, and with plenty of entertainment planned, this is the perfect family afternoon out.

Wellies and tomatoes will be supplied, and there will be a practise area available to perfect your throw.

All of the money raised will support Islanders affected by cancer.
