Anyone concerned about the proposed closure of Westminster House is invited to an open meeting being held tonight.
The meeting has been called by those affected by proposed move of care residents as part of the Isle of Wight council’s budget cuts, prior to the Full council meeting this Wednesday.
At last week’s Cabinet meeting, the closure of Westminster House and relocation of users of the facility to The Goldings (a residential care home for the elderly) was discussed.
Despite huge outcry from the public gallery (more to come on that later), Cabinet members forged ahead and voted in favour of the closure and relocation.
Meeting tonight
Tonight those worried about the proposed changes will be attending a meeting at Newport Primary School (Opposite Westminster house) from 6pm.
All Isle of Wight councillors have been invited to the meeting and the invitation is also extended to all interested parties.
