Island Roads work to improve Great Preston Road in Ryde is ahead of schedule. And because the project has not, currently, been hindered by delay, an extra section is now to be resurfaced.
Between 7th and 9th February, the section between Westridge Cross and Smallbrook Lane – which has been particularly badly hit by the ‘freeze-thaw’ action of the recent cold and wet weather – will also be resurfaced.
Makes sense to extend our planned scheme
An Island Roads spokesman said,
“We’re pleased that for a number of reasons, not least the dry weather we have been experiencing, we have made very good progress on the work in Great Preston Road.
“So while we are working in this location it makes sense to extend our planned scheme to another area that is in need of resurfacing.
“Even with this additional work we are still on course to finish the project ahead of schedule. We would like to thank residents for their co-operation in observing the traffic restrictions in place during work. This too has contributed to the good progress we have made.”
Daytime work
The work on the additional section will take place between 7:30am and 5pm. Residents have received letters highlighting the scheme and its impact on them.
